UUs with Sound Alliance for King County ICE Detainer Ordinance Last Updated on 2013-06-29 18:12:36 Three UU congregations are now members of Sound Alliance, whose immigration group is putting its weight behind the 2-year effort for "trust" laws to regulate local responses to federal detention requests.  WA State Representative Luis Moscoso introduced a WA State Trust Act during this 2013 state legislative session, but it was deferred to next year.  Now in mid-June King County Council Chair Larry Gossett has (with Councilmember Joe McDermott) introduced a trust ordinance for King County.  Such laws are good for public safety, criminal justice and local budgets, but our Sound Alliance group supports it for the sake of immigrant justice.  (Read about Representative Moscoso's award-winning commitment here.)
