Faith Action Network (FAN)

Washington’s Faith Action Network (FANis a statewide interfaith advocacy 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization through which thousands of people and 90 faith communities across Washington State partner for the common good.   WA UU Voices for Justice and several UU congregations in Washington State work alongside FAN to educate residents about issues and to bring the voices of UUs and the faith-based community to bear on state legislative issues.

Protect Immigrant Families: Comment Period Open on Rule Change Last Updated on 2018-10-13 14:30:05 The time for action is NOW (comment period closes Dec. 10) on a proposed change to the federal rule on Public Charge. This rule change has been posted to the Federal Register and is open for public comment. As part of the Protecting Immigrant Families coalition in Washington, we have a unique faith community portal to use.  Please use it to add your voice to thousands across our country that have already said NO to the Trump Administration’s proposed change that will harshly impact millions of immigrant families. Global Food Week of Action Oct. 14-21 Last Updated on 2018-10-13 14:08:48   (check the latest updates from the Faith Action Network)   The Global Food Week of Action includes World Food Day (Oct. 16,) International Day for Rural Women (Oct. 15), and International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (Oct. 17.)   The 2018 Food Week of Action is coming! Faith Action Network is partnering again with Presbyterian Hunger Program to be one of 57 national co-sponsors of this international effort for celebration and action. From October 14-21 we celebrate the abundant and precious world that we inhabit, whose diverse ecosystems provide everything we need to thrive. Network with Local Activists at FAN Cluster Meetings Last Updated on 2018-08-18 14:38:05 The 2018 cluster season is approaching. These Faith Action Network gatherings are a place to connect in small groups geographically, discuss the current issues we are all working on, and strategize for 2019 legislative session. "Public Charge" Rule Changes Imperil Immigrant Familes Last Updated on 2018-08-18 14:25:09 As part of our firm belief that Families Belong Together, Faith Action Network is participating in a coalition response to proposed changes to the federal Public Charge rule. We invite you to get familiar with the issue so when the federal comment period opens, you can take action to stop the change. The Public Charge rule is currently applied to immigrants seeking legal permanent residency (green cards) as a way to determine if they are a "public charge" by being dependent on public assistance (cash assistance or long-term care aid). The proposed change would extend the definition of "public charge" to include immigrants who access a large range of benefits that they are legally entitled to, such as food assistance/SNAP, health care programs, housing assistance, and Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC).
