Social Justice in Action: Oregon Delegations to Standing Rock

Answering the Call!

Two local ministers answered the call to witness and support the Water Protectors at Standing Rock.
Rev. Marcia Stanard, minister at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Willamette Falls, Oregon City heard the call from Standing Rock. Specifically from Episcopal Priest, John Floberg, who asked fellow clergy to come and be present the first week in November. Rev. Marcia preached about her experience and you can listen here, select Nov 6, 2016, Answering the Call of Love at Standing Rock.

APANO Director Rev. Joseph Santos-Lyons (in the middle) and Oregon State Representative Elect Diego Hernandez went to Standing Rock during the Thanksgiving holiday along with 10 other leaders of color and cultural workers. They drove 3 cars and 2 roof racks full of food, winter and wellness donations to Standing Rock. On top of bringing supplies and donations to the camp, they spent their thanksgiving protesting the North Dakota Access Pipeline, #NoDAPL.
