This year’s summit will be very special because it will launch the joint evolution of Northwest UU Justice Network and Washington UU Voices for Justice. Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Congregation will be our hosts for the first summit of the new organization, JUUstice Washington, just as it was for the first NW Justice Summit eight year ago. Your voice is important to the development of this new organization. What can JUUstice Washington do to further your justice work?

This year’s summit will include a new Justice Fair, featuring exhibits, information kiosks and presentations. Arrive by 7:30 p.m. to learn about innovative congregational justice programs that work. Hear the details on setting up a homeless “car camp” program or adding solar to your congregation’s building. Talk to representatives from allied organizations to see how you can support each other in your work.

The summit will feature three key elements critical to our future UU justice work in Washington state: Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) training; advocacy training for state and local legislation and regulations; and building active issue groups across congregations that include both EDI and advocacy elements. Six such issue groups/hubs are already in operation or will be organizing at this summit.

You are also invited to a pre-summit justice music event, "Share the Struggle/Share the Camaraderie," a Sing-A-Long with song leader Bruce Baker, Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. at the host church.
